West Singapore weather today
Greener and quieter, with Singapore's newest national garden at Jurong Lake, the Science Centre, and the forested ridge of Bukit Timah. Fewer tourists, more locals, and the best place to feel the island's weather arrive: Sumatra squalls usually cross from this side first.

Live in the West
Air readings are NEA's West region; rain is from the NEA gauges nearest the zone's key areas; the nowcast is NEA's 2-hour forecast.

Worth your time
- Jurong Lake Gardens — Lakeside boardwalks, the restored Chinese and Japanese Gardens; go late afternoon.
- Science Centre Singapore — Indoor and family-friendly; a reliable wet-weather option.
- Bukit Timah Nature Reserve — The island's highest point in primary rainforest; steep, humid, best at opening.
- Haw Par Villa — The famously eccentric Chinese-mythology park; free, mostly outdoors.
- Clementi & Holland Village — Café and hawker neighbourhoods on the East–West Line.
- Tuas & the western islands — Industrial; not a visitor area.
Getting around
The East–West Line and the Jurong Region Line (opening in stages) serve the zone. Bukit Timah trails close during and after storms; check the radar before setting off.
Questions
Is the West worth visiting on a short trip?
If you have three days or more, yes: Jurong Lake Gardens and Bukit Timah show a side of Singapore the downtown does not, and they are 30–40 minutes from the centre by MRT.
Why does the West often read higher on the PSI during haze?
Haze arrives on the prevailing south-westerly winds during the Southwest Monsoon, so the West and South are usually the first regions to rise and the last to clear.
