Privacy policy
Last updated 2026-10-06.
SGWeather ("we") operates sgweather.com. This policy explains what we collect and why, in line with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act and, for visitors from the EEA and UK, the GDPR.
What we collect
- No accounts. You cannot register, and we do not ask for your name or email unless you write to us.
- Preferences on your device. Your chosen area, the last archive date and your cookie choice are stored in your browser's local storage and are not sent to us.
- Location, only on request. If you tap "Near me", your browser asks for permission and the coordinates are used on your device to pick the nearest NEA area. They are not transmitted to our servers.
- Server logs. Our host (Netlify) records standard request logs, including IP address, for security and capacity, retained for a limited period.
- Analytics and advertising, with consent. If you accept cookies, we load Google Analytics (with IP anonymisation) to understand how the site is used, and Google AdSense to fund it. These partners set cookies and may process data under their own policies; advertising may be personalised where the law allows and you have consented. Choosing "Essential only" loads neither.
Third-party data requests
Live readings are fetched from data.gov.sg, weather.gov.sg and Open-Meteo through our own servers, so those services see our request, not your device's. Map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap directly by your browser.
Your rights
You can withdraw cookie consent at any time by clearing site data in your browser. To ask what we hold about you (normally nothing beyond server logs) or to request deletion, write to privacy@sgweather.com. Our Data Protection Officer can be reached at the same address.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We will post any changes here with a new date.
